Acácio Viegas (Portugal, 1976) is a Portuguese contemporary artist, designer, researcher, and lecturer whose practice explores the relationship between geometry, perception, and consciousness.

Working across sculpture, painting, installation, and digital fabrication, he investigates how visual structures shape the way we construct meaning and experience reality. His work combines geometric abstraction with contemporary technologies—including CNC machining, UV printing, laser engraving, and digital modelling—alongside manual processes, creating works that exist at the intersection of material precision and perceptual inquiry.

Originally trained in Product Design, Viegas holds a Master's degree in Industrial Design and is a lecturer at the Polytechnic University of Viana do Castelo (IPVC), where he teaches Product Design. This dual engagement with academia and artistic practice informs a research methodology in which making becomes a form of critical inquiry.

His work has been presented in solo and group exhibitions throughout Portugal and has received national and international recognition. In 2025, he was awarded the First Prize at the XV Eixo Atlântico International Art Biennial, following the Henrique Silva Art Prize in 2024. He has also participated in major contemporary art biennials and developed public art commissions, while continuing to expand his practice through artistic research.

Rather than producing objects as ends in themselves, Viegas approaches each work as an open investigation into perception, consciousness, and the invisible structures through which we experience the world.

He lives and works in Viana do Castelo, Portugal.
